Coffee Places

When I got to Gensan in 2003, I was immediately in search of restaurants and coffee places. If I remember it right, there was not a lot of choices then! Now there are a couple of good places to go if you want cafe ambience and coffee, of course.

Here they are!

  • Orange Bistro in Lagao (used to Orange Cafe on Pioneer Ave.)
  • Fagioli in Lagao also
  • McGregor, National Highway in front of Yellow Bus Station
  • Cafe Amigo onSouth Osmena
  • Sunset Cafe, EastAsia Royale Hotel arcade
  • Coffee Club 101 on Laurel

Sarangani Highlands Garden and Restaurant

I have to talk about this restaurant here because, first and foremost, I am proud of whatSH it has become. You see, I was a member of the group that set up the restaurant so it is really something close to my heart.

It is on Tambler, overlooking Sarangani Bay and is just about 20 minutes from downtown Gensan.

The owner, Dr. Abella (who is a fulltime doctor, mind you), was really into gardening and landscaping. Sarangani Highlands’ current location used to be her private refuge. A place to let her plants and flowers bloom and show off her talents. Now, it is a booming business frequented by Gensan’s rich and famous (and industrious!).

If you need to contact them, here is the number. 083 3040752. You can see more pictures of the place on saranganihighlands.multiply.com.

Look good at Ritratto

I forgot to blog about this last year (well , a couple of days ago). I brought my kids to Ritratto Studio for their portrait. It’s in the 2nd floor Starbright Building on Quirino Ave.

And you know what?  The pictures were fabulous. My kids looked pretty and shots were great. (apple, you owe me this one!) Sorry I can’t post the pictures yet. I have yet to go and get/buy the soft copies. Oh but I will!

Anyway, if you have any need for a proper portrait, go visit Ritratto.

Philippine Christian Bookstore

You might be wondering why I’m writing about PCBS or Philippine Christian Bookstore. This is quite late an article for them but anyway, here goes.

Over the christmas gift-buying season, I always try to buy gifts which are not found in the mall or in any other place where I know the recipients might be going to also. I always like it when people tell me, “Oh where did you buy this?”. Makes me feel like a shopping expert.

One of the places I buy gifts is PCBS because I like giving books. I personally read a lot of books. I have discovered PCBS for three years now I think. When I was still working for a hotel here, I invited them to the Christmas Bazaar. And if God will allow that I be able to organize events again, I will surely would like to invite them again. What I like about it is they sell a lot of good books. Of course, since it’s a christian bookstore, expect the books to be geared or anchored on the Bible and christian living. the place is small for all the nice books they have to display and I do hope they get a bigger place. I also like how they have organized the place given the space deficiency. What’s more, the books are so affordable and diversified. They have books for business, family life, personal reflections, marriage, courtship, children and more. They have gift items too. So the next time you are gift-hunting, why don’t you try to visit PCBS. It’s right along Pendatun Avenue facing City Hall Park.

Register your businesses now!

The City Government of General Santos City is making it easier for entrepreneurs to get their business permits.

There is a one-stop shop (err… hallowed  hall) inthe city’s Oval Plaza where renewing and new business permit applicants can go.

The one-stop business permit shop is open from January 2-20, 2008.
