Profile
General Santos City is a quiet yet developing city in Mindanao, Philippines. It is called Tuna Capital of the Philippines, however, it might be better to call it Tuna Highway of the Philippines. Nevertheless, it is a city with a lot of promise.

Hi Cathy,
I m from Malaysia Penang. all I know about Gensan is their tuna export. Btw where do the providers export?
15.
Cathy | December 10, 2008 at 5:20 pm
hi kongleong. what do you mean by providers? if you mean the processed tuna or fresh frozen, they export to japan, US and other countries. though i’m not exactly an expert on that.
16.
kongleong | December 12, 2008 at 12:19 pm
hi cathy,
yes i do mean the exporters of tuna fish. Anyway thank you for the information.

4th MINDANAO FRANCHISE EXPO
The General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), SMED Council, Inc., the City Government of General Santos, and RK Franchise Consultancy together with the Filipino International Franchise Association (FIFA), will hold the 4th Mindanao Franchise Expo on June 26-28, 2009 at the Gaisano Mall of GenSan Atrium, General Santos City.
The three-day 4th Mindanao Franchise Expo is one way of bringing franchise opportunities closer to the Mindanao regions where the franchise market is growing stronger. This event is definitely a showcase of successful franchisers from Manila, Cebu, Davao and General Santos City to prospective Franchisees and new and promising concepts in food, retail or services to consider franchising. Franchising has evolved also in Mindanao to be the most successful way to expand a business or to go into a business by yourself. The fastest way for business owners to grow a business is to franchise it out instead of opening own branches. On the other hand, the safest way to invest money is to get a reputable franchise as franchises offers the advantages of being proven profitable, provide training, opening assistance and operations manual.
Among the exhibitors will be the following Companies showcasing their franchise and business opportunities: Phoenix Fuels Life, Julies Bakeshop, RK Franchise Consultancy, Kuya Chito Takuyaki, Nadies Chicken House, Southern Synergy, Penongs Barbecue Seafood & Grill, Mamma Maria Pizza, Solerex Water Technologies, Asian Tropics, Fresh Salon, Smart Choice Laundry, Hollywood Nails, Aficianodo Germany Perfumes, Swiss Fregrances, Premium Graphics, Inkman Ventures, Global Business World, Greenrose Laundry, Dimsum Diner, Dermaline Facial & Skin Care, Beestop Foodhauz, Star Communication, Rocky Mountain Café, Botoy’s Lechon Manok, Best Buy Warehouse, Livingwater Systems, Business Mirror and FranchiseToday.
The expo timed during the GenSan Business Month (Yaman GenSan) and is open to the public during mall hours and is designed to allow prospective Franchisees to get a close-up look at a range of different franchises, meet with the company representatives, attend franchise seminars and become familiar with the growing world of franchising.
A Franchise Seminar by senior franchise consultant Rudolf Kotik, who has 30 years of experience in the Franchise Business in 3 Continents, is scheduled at June 27, 2009. For reservation please call (083) 552-5105 or 552-8385.
For details or interested exhibitors please visit the website http://www.mindanaofanchise.com or contact the organizers CEO Events & Expo Organizers in Manila at (02) 995.0734 and in Cebu at (032) 273.3827 or in General Santos City the Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Miss Pilar Afuang at (083) 552-5105 or email info@ceoexpos.com

Jessica | August 1, 2009 at 4:21 am
Hi Cathy,
I’m not sure if I’ve used the same email when I posted a question last year about the seafood restaurant in marbel which is known for their crabs..hmm…I’m trying to recall which post was that… I hope you can still recall the name of the restaurant. =)
I’m coming home this October for my mom’s 50th birthday… I’m scouting for nice and cozy seafood restaurant which can accommodate 100 to 150 close family members and friends… it’s a surprise party so I can’t ask her help in finding a place… I initially thought of Grab a Crab but heard the place is quite small… what do you think? I’ve been there once but cannot remember how big it was.
I’m based in Singapore now so it’s really hard to plan this alone. Can you recommend any place or restaurant in GenSan or Marbel for this party? Some contact info will be much appreciated too.
By the way, if I remembered it right, your blog used to have categories. It’s nice to have them back. I’m having a hard time going through all of your archives. I love reading your reviews and posts about GenSan… even those old ones.
Hope to hear from you again.
Jessica

Cathy | August 1, 2009 at 9:15 am
Hi Jessica! The restaurant in Marbel is Arpoochi.
I am familiar with restaurants only in Gensan. Most of the big restaurants can put together an excellent seafood menu for you. It’s not exactly their specialty but yes they can cook seafoods. Grab a crab has a nice function room but it just might be for around 100 persons. Other places that can accommodate more than 100 persons would be Orange Bistro, Paseo del Sol, Sarangani Highlands, Family Country Hotel, Sydney Hotel and Family Country Hotel.
will fix ‘em.
Sorry about the categories, I am a little bit of a mess blogging lately. Sorry!
52.
Jessica | August 1, 2009 at 4:55 pm
Thanks for the quick reply Cathy!
I was able to contact Orange Bistro and they are sending me their party package anytime soon. I’ve got their # in one of the Wedding Blogs. I cannot find Paseo del Sol’s contact info over the net though… I’ll try my luck surfing the net again. But should you have their #, just drop me a quick note. =)
Thanks much!
Jessica
