General Santos City is a quiet yet developing city in Mindanao, southern islands of the Philippines. It is called Tuna Capital of the Philippines, however, it might be better to call it Tuna Highway of the Philippines. Nevertheless, it is a city with a lot of promise, affordable seafoods, fruits and fresh air.

  20. 4th MINDANAO FRANCHISE EXPO
The General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), SMED Council, Inc., the City Government of General Santos, and RK Franchise Consultancy together with the Filipino International Franchise Association (FIFA), will hold the 4th Mindanao Franchise Expo on June 26-28, 2009 at the Gaisano Mall of GenSan Atrium, General Santos City.
The three-day 4th Mindanao Franchise Expo is one way of bringing franchise opportunities closer to the Mindanao regions where the franchise market is growing stronger. This event is definitely a showcase of successful franchisers from Manila, Cebu, Davao and General Santos City to prospective Franchisees and new and promising concepts in food, retail or services to consider franchising. Franchising has evolved also in Mindanao to be the most successful way to expand a business or to go into a business by yourself. The fastest way for business owners to grow a business is to franchise it out instead of opening own branches. On the other hand, the safest way to invest money is to get a reputable franchise as franchises offers the advantages of being proven profitable, provide training, opening assistance and operations manual.
Among the exhibitors will be the following Companies showcasing their franchise and business opportunities: Phoenix Fuels Life, Julies Bakeshop, RK Franchise Consultancy, Kuya Chito Takuyaki, Nadies Chicken House, Southern Synergy, Penongs Barbecue Seafood & Grill, Mamma Maria Pizza, Solerex Water Technologies, Asian Tropics, Fresh Salon, Smart Choice Laundry, Hollywood Nails, Aficianodo Germany Perfumes, Swiss Fregrances, Premium Graphics, Inkman Ventures, Global Business World, Greenrose Laundry, Dimsum Diner, Dermaline Facial & Skin Care, Beestop Foodhauz, Star Communication, Rocky Mountain Café, Botoy’s Lechon Manok, Best Buy Warehouse, Livingwater Systems, Business Mirror and FranchiseToday.
The expo timed during the GenSan Business Month (Yaman GenSan) and is open to the public during mall hours and is designed to allow prospective Franchisees to get a close-up look at a range of different franchises, meet with the company representatives, attend franchise seminars and become familiar with the growing world of franchising.
A Franchise Seminar by senior franchise consultant Rudolf Kotik, who has 30 years of experience in the Franchise Business in 3 Continents, is scheduled at June 27, 2009. For reservation please call (083) 552-5105 or 552-8385.
For details or interested exhibitors please visit the website http://www.mindanaofanchise.com or contact the organizers CEO Events & Expo Organizers in Manila at (02) 995.0734 and in Cebu at (032) 273.3827 or in General Santos City the Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Miss Pilar Afuang at (083) 552-5105 or email info@ceoexpos.com

  26. Hi Cathy,

I’m not sure if I’ve used the same email when I posted a question last year about the seafood restaurant in marbel which is known for their crabs..hmm…I’m trying to recall which post was that… I hope you can still recall the name of the restaurant. =)

I’m coming home this October for my mom’s 50th birthday… I’m scouting for nice and cozy seafood restaurant which can accommodate 100 to 150 close family members and friends… it’s a surprise party so I can’t ask her help in finding a place… I initially thought of Grab a Crab but heard the place is quite small… what do you think? I’ve been there once but cannot remember how big it was.

I’m based in Singapore now so it’s really hard to plan this alone. Can you recommend any place or restaurant in GenSan or Marbel for this party? Some contact info will be much appreciated too.

By the way, if I remembered it right, your blog used to have categories. It’s nice to have them back. I’m having a hard time going through all of your archives. I love reading your reviews and posts about GenSan… even those old ones.

Hope to hear from you again.

    Jessica

  27. Hi Jessica! The restaurant in Marbel is Arpoochi. 🙂

I am familiar with restaurants only in Gensan. Most of the big restaurants can put together an excellent seafood menu for you. It’s not exactly their specialty but yes they can cook seafoods. Grab a crab has a nice function room but it just might be for around 100 persons. Other places that can accommodate more than 100 persons would be Orange Bistro, Paseo del Sol, Sarangani Highlands, Family Country Hotel, Sydney Hotel and Family Country Hotel.
Sorry about the categories, I am a little bit of a mess blogging lately. Sorry! 🙂 will fix ’em.

  28. Thanks for the quick reply Cathy!

I was able to contact Orange Bistro and they are sending me their party package anytime soon. I’ve got their # in one of the Wedding Blogs. I cannot find Paseo del Sol’s contact info over the net though… I’ll try my luck surfing the net again. But should you have their #, just drop me a quick note. =)

    Thanks much!

    Jessica

  32. hi…

I’m so thankful i found this site..

I’m from agusan del sur. I’m surfing to find out the complete address and if possible, the e-mail ad and contact number of the Human Resource Dept. of the Robinsons Place in GenSan, particularly the LG Electronics, where my brother is working since it was opened. He is new 2 ur place and we have no communication with him for almost 3 weeks. My family is so worried about him most especially when the massacre in maguindanao broke out (we thought gensan is near to maguindanao). At the back of our minds, we only thought maybe his phone was lost or stolen or damaged. My family would like to knw whether he got a new number nor he is still working for LG in Robinsons or not. We do not know anyone in GenSan who can help and give us contact from his workplace. That’s why I’m so thankful i found this site..Hope u can do us favor.

I anticipate a favorable response from you soon. Please send me your feedback at missy_nova75@yahoo.com or text me at my mobile # 09297317315. Thank you very much and more power.God bless

  33. Hello there Cathy. Thank God I stumbled upon your blog while looking for food reviews! Been wondering where to dine in Gensan on my next visit and that would be 2months from now. My Bro lives there, but he’s no use, he doesn’t know where to bring me and my friends for good food. We mostly ate tuna the last time I visited, which you can grab of course, in all corners of Gensan. I love tuna, no question, but what I’m looking for is variety. Haay talaga! Thank you, your blog is a big help. Now I can try your featured dining places! Can’t wait to visit Pinas again! 🙂

  34. Hi AnnSG! I’m glad I could be of help! As for the restaurants, if you want one with a beautiful view, I will recommend Sarangani Highlands. It’s up on Tambler turn right after the Fishport Complex. If you want somewhere downtown, there’s Marasa Grill on Kadulasan St., the place is not fancy but it’s pretty and the food is great. There’s alsoTiongson Arcade where you can have variety to the max. Barbecue, crabs, Mongolian, steak… You can also try Icons/Six Blings/ Oh-olang, Grab a Crab and Orange Bistro. Enjoy!

  35. hi!

your posts are interesting 🙂 i’ve been searching about gensan these days. im a davaoena, but im currently based in cagayan de oro city with my husband. we’re thinking of visiting gensan. it’s a shame that it’s a 2-hour drive from davao, and i hadn’t even touch my feet on gensan. could you suggest an itinerary for our visit there in the near future? by the way, we’re a young couple and would love to try out new things. 🙂

thank you very much! advance happy valentine’s day to you and your hubby!

  36. Hi Cristina! Thank you! Glad you like this blog. Gensan is good place for food finds! I will assume you’ll stay for an overnighter. I will suggest you visit Sarangani Highlands, it’s past the Fishport and high up towards PNP Region 12. Don’t got to Manny Pacquiao’s house unless you’re okay to see the gate only (it’s huge by the way) but I do suggest you check out their store at Robinsons Place. Other restaurants you should visit are Icons/Six blings for some ostrich and crocoddile dishes, Marasa Grill along Kadulasan for simple but extremely good tuna dishes, Grab a Crab (robinsons too). Do check out also the tuna fresh frozen stores along National highway. See you ni Gensan soon!

  37. Hi Cathy,

  38. Hi Mr. Santos! No problem using our picture. Can I just ask that we be acknowledged properly if there’s any chance to do so (Cathy and Milper Bolodo, my hubby and I both took photos). Which picture will that be? I’m glad you liked the article.

Hope to meet you the next time we visit.

We will be residing in Brgy City Heights near Purok Malakas. I would really appreciate any feedback you might have. Thanks!
